My goal is to work diligently with students, parents and faculty to foster an atmosphere that promotes a learning community focused on student centered needs, academic excellence, trust, respect, community involvement, communication, and recognition of student, parent and staff achievements.
As a team, we will move forward each school year to create a nurturing, innovative, and challenging environment in which all students
learn at optimum levels and become responsible members of society. Positive people, not programs, make a school successful. As a servant leader and mentor, I will lead with empathy, listen attentively, seek to understand, and utilize the experience and talents of others. I believe open, respectful collaboration can solve any problem.
The definition of a teacher is one who inspires, guides, enlightens, and motivates; a tireless scholar.
Leadership is teaching through teamwork to accelerate success and empowering community. Together, we will provide the opportunity to continually strive to identify key challenges in curriculum, instruction, and assessment while improving school culture, serving student needs, and promoting parent and community involvement.
Please do not hesitate to call if I can assist in acquainting you with the curriculum, organization, policies and procedures of Mac Arthur Intermediate School. Together we can make a positive impact on every student by connecting with and focusing on what is possible even when situations seem impossible. Educators are charged with developing the whole child in a proactive, nurturing environment. Through shared decision making, organization, flexibility, and endurance, a culture of high expectations can be created. My motto is to continually learn and grow with fidelity and make a difference.
Mac Arthur Ponies are on the run. Catch us if you can!!!!!!!
My name is Mercedes Bauerkemper and this is my 15th
year with EPISD. My experience has been in Mathematics and Administration. I
began my career in 2002 at Charles
Middle School as a
teacher, a mathematics instructional coach and three and a half years as Assistant
Principal. I arrived at MacArthur in the Spring of 2013, and my experience with
the students, faculty and community have been heartwarming. I believe that as
educators, we must educate our students in academics, as well as in character
to make them the leaders of tomorrow. I believe our responsibility is to
inspire and motivate our students to reach their dreams, no matter the size;
and help them to identify their talents so they can pursue their dreams with
passion and perseverance. I am committed to our students and truly believe that
“people (especially kids) don’t care how much you know, until they know how
much you care.”
